ISOMA (International Symposium of Military Academies) is a cyclical meeting of representatives of military academies from around the world in order to exchange experiences and best practices regarding education programs for students and cadets, methodology and pedagogy, methods for evaluation of courses and study programs in the field of security and military studies.

The symposium took place in the historic interiors of the Karlberg Military Academy, founded in 1792 as the Royal War Academy, which is the world’s oldest military academy acting without interruption. 90 representatives of military and civilian universities from 19 countries from all over the world took part in the symposium. The perfect organization of the symposium, the solemn opening and closing ceremonies, the high level of the event emphasized by the participation of the representatives of the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters and rectors-commanders of many academies, fostered discussions and exchanges of experiences. Representatives of the Department of National Security held a number of talks about strengthening or establishing cooperation with universities from the USA, Australia, South Africa, Colombia, Brazil, United Kingdom and Lithuania.
