On the 7th of December, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen visited Addis Abeba, the capital of Ethiopia. It has been the first official visit outside Europe since von der Leyen took office earlier in December. The choice of Addis Ababa, a headquarter of the African Union, remains politically symbolic in light of the ongoing negotiation with the ACP group on post-2020 regional relations.

The regulation of soldiers’ appearance in the Polish Armed Forces

In August 2019 an order issued by Col. Radosław Cyniak, the commander of the 9th Warmian Reconnaissance Regiment of the Polish Army, came into light and immediately sparked a media controversy. Its provisions concerned the external appearance of soldiers, regulating it in minute details. Journalists and the female soldiers they cited indicated that some of the provisions of the order targeted women serving in this unit, introducing excessive limitations on their appearance.

The new international trade policy

The trade war between the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC), where multilateral international obligations regarding tariff rates and non-tariff measures are at stake, results in shifts in global and regional trade in Asia. Emerging economies, such as Vietnam and Indonesia, seem to be winners, but China is looking for a proper response for American instruments. The change in the balance of power between the most important economies of the world: the USA, PRC and the European Union, which is a dynamic process in the long run, may lead to undermining the existing system guaranteed by the World Trade Organization (WTO).
