The commentary takes up the phenomenon of the spontaneous mobilization of the Polish society following immediately the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. The author expresses the view that in the situation of the most serious crisis, which is the war in the immediate vicinity of our borders, Poles have shown an extraordinary mobilization and a great commitment to the assistance to refugees from Ukraine. This has become then part of a modern concept of security known as the humanization of security. The author points out the need to establish and improve cooperation between non-governmental organizations and public administration in order to increase the effectiveness of activities in the above-mentioned area, and therefore to use the social potential to improve the national security system of a democratic state.
